Meeting Women In Atlas Mountains .JPG

At The H.E.L.P Team, we believe that real solutions come from real experiences on the ground.

Our field journey took us across Morocco, Senegal, and The Gambia, where we immersed ourselves in local communities to understand traditional food systems, cultural practices, and sustainable livelihoods.

Our Field Journey Across North & West Africa

Morocco: Women-Led Cooperatives & Traditional Foods

  • Explored the High Atlas Mountains, Essaouira, Agadir, and Dakhla, witnessing centuries-old agricultural practices.

  • Engaged with women-led cooperatives producing Argan oil and traditional soaps, supporting economic empowerment and cultural heritage.

  • Documented nutrient-rich local diets, including ancient grains, barley, and date-based foods.

Senegal: Baobabs, Traditional Cuisine & Community Resilience

  • Studied the savannah and river regions, observing the multipurpose uses of baobab trees, from nutrition to livelihoods.

  • Participated in preparing traditional foods, tasting local cereals and mint teas (Ataya), and learning about bitter fruits like Saba (Mad)in Wolof.

  • Gained insights into nutrition practices, community rituals, and sustainable agriculture.
